One of the best values in the entire seafood industry is dry sea scallop chunks. These are byproducts of the hand-shucking process. After being shucked, they are graded by size: U/10’s, U/14’s, 10/20’s, and 20/30’s. Torn scallops and pieces of scallops are separated out and sold at an extreme discount.

Sea scallops are shucked at sea on the boat, and it is easy to imagine how a scallop can get torn during this process. Can you imagine trying to shuck a scallop while rolling in 6-8 foot sea waves? So, try a gallon or two of chunks this week and see what a remarkable value they are!
