All crustaceans must periodically shed their shells in order to grow. Given the recent influx of hard crabs around the bay, we should start seeing an increase in the availability of soft crabs in August. We don’t foresee a market crash, but instead of costing seven dollars each, you might be able to purchase them for six dollars apiece.
Do you remember when we started the season in April at $72 per dozen? Every waterman on the Bay will attest to the fact that predicting a crab is almost impossible.
