As the Venezuelan producers push what they consider to be justified price increases, other crab-producing regions around the world are taking notice. Both in Mexico and domestically, the states along the Gulf of Mexico are starting to produce a fair amount of crabmeat.
With the price in the mid 20’s now on jumbo, they can pick and ship and make a profit at those levels. So in the third week of August this summer, when Venezuela goes entirely offline, there could be enough domestic and Mexican production to fill the void.
Prices are subject to change.
