Finally, rockfish season is almost here. The recent “drought” in wild rockfish supply is coming to an end, as pound-netters around the Bay gear up to harvest fresh product. After a slow stretch, these fishermen are eager to unload their nets and get fish to market quickly.
We’re expecting a solid showing of all three sizes — 2/4s, 5/8s, and 8 ups — ready for Tuesday delivery. Prices are starting off at reasonable levels, with the usual premium on larger fish. As always, the bigger the size, the higher the price.
After weeks of limited availability, this should be a welcome restock for restaurants looking to feature a local favorite on their menus. Get your orders in early — this first wave likely won’t last long.
