With the onset of winter off the coast of Maine, firm shell lobster production has come to a halt. That means the “only game in town” is Canadian hardshell lobster caught in LFA 33 & 34 off southwest Nova Scotia. Fabulous quality lobster at a greater price.
Figure C.Q. (chix & quarters) this week at around $11/lb halves around $12.50/lb and deuces a dollar more. Culls will be a bargain in the mid $8’s/lb. From now through most of April, barring a long stretch of calm weather in the North Atlantic, lobster pricing will stay in double digits. Contact your sales rep for updates.
