April 1st may be April fools day, but it also marks the beginning of the new Atlantic sea scallop season. There won’t be a flood of fresh North Atlantic sea scallops entering the market immediately, but there will be an increase in supply.

Unfortunately, this year, the quota was reduced to a combined total of 56 million pounds, a jaw-dropping 50% less than 2020 when the Atlantic coast quota was approximately 100 million pounds. It is doubtful that we will see prices below $30 a pound on large scallops (U/8 & U/10).

Prices are subject to change.
