Over the past eight weeks, almost 100 million pounds of lobsters were landed in the Canadian Atlantic Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Quebec. Then why are lobsters still $10 per pound, you say? Because lobster is now, and has been for some time, an “international commodity”. People worldwide celebrate special occasions with lobster as their “center of the plate” dish. The smaller lobster tails, 3-4’s, 4-5’s, and 5-6’s, have come down into the low to mid 20’s, but larger tails remain in the 30’s. CK meat has fallen into the upper 30’s.
