Massachusetts Wild Rockfish – The jumbo wild rockfish season just opened in Massachusetts, with all fish caught by hook and line—resulting in top-tier quality. The challenge? Fishermen are only allowed to fish on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If bad weather hits on either of those days, there’s no make-up window—just a lost week.
This limited access is designed to stretch the quota out, but it makes supply inconsistent. Rhode Island is also open, but they have very little quota left.
We expect the Massachusetts season to run through early August. After that, wild rockfish becomes increasingly hard to find.
