Chix might be $15 a pound today (if you can find any), but the ‘cavalry is coming’! Newfoundland lobster season starts this week, and the Bay of Fundy opens next week. However, the most significant opener is on April 30th in southwest Nova Scotia.
Once the Southwest Nova Scotia season opens up, they will catch 2,000,000 pounds of live lobster daily. We anticipate CQH falling under $10 before Mother’s Day. Canadian hard-shell lobsters will dominate the market until late June, when most of Canada is closed, and Maine is just starting to produce some firm shells.
Prices are subject to change.
