Lobster season reopens on April 20th, with new areas opening up in Canada as boats get back on the water. We’re about a week out from “setting day,” when fishermen begin setting their traps and kicking off the start of the season in new fishing grounds.
Leading up to this, availability has been tight with very limited catch coming in. After traps are set, it takes a little time before they’re hauled, but once landings begin, we typically see supply build quickly and pricing start to ease.
If lobster is on your menu, now is a great time to plan ahead as we transition into more consistent availability heading into late April and early May.
