Yes, mid-March has arrived, and with it comes the daring fishermen of Alaska, who are braving the harsh snow and ice to catch the stunning wild Pacific halibut, Hippoglossus stenolepis. While the catch may not be abundant, the combination of Alaskan and East Coast halibut production has supplied enough fish to the market to lower fillet prices below the $20 threshold. This trend is anticipated to continue into April, as milder weather on both coasts is expected to facilitate increased fishing efforts.
