It is “Holy Week” in the fish business, and anything with gills or even smells like a fish is worth money. This week is the culmination of peak demand for seafood (specifically any fish species) that has been building since Ash Wednesday, this past March 2.

We currently have record-breaking, double-digit prices on whole Red Snapper and whole Black grouper. Between the constant storms in the Gulf and along the entire Atlantic coast, fish are incredibly scarce, making buyers desperate to find something they can put in their coolers to sell. In years past, after Easter, prices have softened due to better fishing weather and less demand for fish.
