Chesapeake Bay Crabs are still going strong. Water temperatures in the Chesapeake Bay are still holding around 80°F, which means soft crabs and crab meat remain in full swing. The warmer water keeps crabs active and feeding, resulting in a good supply of both soft shells and quality crabmeat.

We’re seeing strong landings from our local watermen, with plenty of nice soft crabs available as jumbos. Crabmeat is also plentiful, with good yields and consistent quality.

As we move toward fall, keep in mind that once water temperatures start to drop, soft crab availability will begin to slow. Now is a great time to take advantage of the current supply while conditions remain favorable.
