The “summer shrimp” have arrived in the Pamlico Sound behind the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The first species of shrimp to arrive are brown shrimp, Farfantepenaeus aztecus. The white shrimp, Litopenaeus setiferus, will arrive later this fall. Boats leave on Sunday at sundown and shrimp for a day or two before returning back.

These are true DAYBOAT fresh shrimp, never frozen. They taste totally different from any shrimp you have ever had. The shrimp have about an 18-month lifespan and can grow as big as 9 inches. This week, they are counting 26 to 30 per pound. They can grow one size per week when conditions are right. We expect them to be 21s soon and 16s around Labor Day.
